Course Description: This online graduate course covers basic paradigms used in social science research and analysis of the Francophone world, while focusing on French mass and popular culture. It examines television shows, dramas, movies, advertising, marketing, theatrical forms, popular literature, popular music, fashion fads, tourism, toys, and sports in Francophone culture. The works that are studied will be contextualized so that the student is able to better reach conclusions about related products, practices, and perspectives from which cultural lessons for the L2 French classroom can be derived.
