Which university should I choose?
All of our university partners are fully accredited. The university you select largely depends on your personal and professional goals. Continue reading to learn more about each university.

Colorado State University-Pueblo
  • Graduate credit
  • Those looking to earn a master’s degree from CSU-Pueblo
  • Those whose districts only pay for “degree seeking” graduate courses
  • Those looking to meet dual credit/college teaching requirements (**)
  • Those looking to advance on the salary schedule
Graduate courses (500 level) offered through Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSU) include a letter grade and the course name, and are transcripted as “CLDE – SPAN” for Spanish courses, “CLDE – FREN” for French courses, “CLDE – GERM” for German courses, “CLDE – JAPN” for Japanese courses, and "ED – WL” for World Language Education courses (*). “CLDE” stands for Culture, Linguistics, & Diversity, and is the departmental code used for courses applicable to the M.Ed. master’s degree in World Languages (Spanish, French, German, Japanese). Likewise, "ED – WL" courses can be applied to the M.Ed. master’s degree in Linguistically Diverse Education (World Language Education). Admission to the program is not a requirement to begin coursework.

Northwest Nazarene University
  • Graduate credit
  • Those looking to earn a graduate certificate from NNU
  • Those looking to meet dual credit/college teaching requirements (**)
  • Those looking to earn transfer credit to be applied to a master’s degree elsewhere
  • Those looking to advance on the salary schedule
Graduate courses offered through NNU are numbered 60000-69999 on the transcript, include a letter grade and the course name, and are coded as "EDSP" (Education of Spanish) for Spanish courses, "EDFR" (Education of French) for French courses, "EDGR" (Education of German) for German courses, "EDJP" (Education of Japanese) for Japanese courses, and "EDWL" (Education of World Languages) for World Language education courses. These courses have been approved by the Graduate Department as "academic graduate courses," which means that they meet the same rigor as other graduate courses offered by NNU and lead to academic graduate credit. Courses may be applied to the graduate certificate in World Languages; however, they may not be applied to a specific NNU degree.

Southern Utah University
  • "PD" graduate-level continuing education credit
  • Those looking to renew their teaching license or certificate
  • Those looking to advance on the salary schedule
  • Those looking for professional development and personal enrichment
Courses offered with SUU lead to "PD" graduate level credit (5000) for continuing education purposes and are transcripted as "EDPD" (Educational Professional Development) with the name of the course indicated and a letter grade. Students who select this university partner have fewer course requirements than NNU and CSU-Pueblo students. As such, we do not recommend this option for those looking for transfer credit or to meet dual credit/college teaching requirements.
(*) Transcript names/numbering effective as of the Fall of 2021. Prior to the Fall of 2021, the language prefix (SPAN, FREN, etc.) was not included on the transcript.

(**) According to correspondence received from the Higher Learning Commission and from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, it is the course content rather than the transcript code that determines whether or not a graduate course meets dual credit/college teaching requirements. To maximize acceptance for dual credit/college teaching, make sure that all of the graduate courses you take are taught in the language you plan on teaching. Please contact us for additional information.
